Anarchist Black Cross (ABC) is an international organization dedicated to solidarity and support work for prisoners, and for the complete abolition of the prison system. It also functions as a collective defense project in some locales.
In Milwaukee, the Anarchist Black Cross currently does prisoner support through letter writing nights to various prisoners across the country. Particular focus has been paid recently to those recently arrested as part of the "Green Scare," a crackdown by the federal government on those involved in the Earth and animal liberation movements. The Milwaukee ABC is also involved in the raising of funds and the coordination of legal defense for radicals arrested in the Milwaukee area.
"Let's not give free reign to our jailers, strike the tiger's heart every day, in every way, according to our differences, against the sadness and solitude of our cells of confinement."
The state attempts to create isolation in places where we seek to create strong and intense connections between each other. Support through even the most minor yet meaningful means of communication can help stave the deterioration of the wills and well being of our caged comrades.
